Traditionally, waste management facilities are always posited far away fromneighborhoods and people’s daily life due to its safety problems of odour, dust and noises. This design aims to play an educational role and involve people from neighborhood. Double polycarbonate wall with different proportion of recycled concrete and brick, wood shaving and coconut active carbon infilled was designed to absorb the odour and fight against floods. An elevated open-market plaza could provide space for gathering activity and dry area for people in flood disasters. All the structural elements are made of coconut timber which is sustainable and recyclable local material. Rainwater could be gathered by the shed roof and stored under the elevated plaza. Solar panels was placed on the grass roof to enable self-sufficiency.
